I have devoted thousands of hours to teaching students with ASD, focusing on both academic and emotional/behavioral struggles. Because students with ASD can often be at or above grade level in some areas and behind grade level in others, I devote special attention to assessing each student’s needs and abilities. I focus heavily on math and comprehensive language skills (reading as well as written and verbal expression). By utilizing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) techniques, I work with students and their families to promote students’ independence and self-advocacy and to address behaviors that interfere with academic success (protest, non-compliance, procrastination, etc.)
